General Music & Kodály Work
Alongside her performance work, Amanda is the lead elementary general music educator for New Hanover County Schools, where she teaches K–5 general music and designs experiences that center singing, movement, creativity, and sequential music literacy. She is National Board Certified in Early to Middle Childhood Music and holds full Kodály certification, along with training in Feierabend Conversational Solfege and Orff Schulwerk.
Her classroom and curriculum work often extend into the community through collaborations with local arts organizations, including student performances with Wilmington Symphony, Opera Wilmington, and UNCW Music. These partnerships have supported projects such as “Songs of Hope” for NourishNC, “Be the Change” for Plastic Ocean Project, and a recent “Carmina Burana” a Spring 2026 collaboration with Wilmington Symphony, Cape Fear Chorale, and UNCW Choirs.
Amanda’s work in music education has been recognized through honors from the North Carolina Symphony, the North Carolina Governor’s Educator Discovery Award, the Organization of American Kodály Educators, and local school and district awards. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Organization of American Kodály Educators Southern Division and is an active presenter at state and national conferences, offering sessions on recorder pedagogy, playful literacy, and integrated arts education.
